Today the MLB honors Jackie Robinson. A hero, a legend, a superb athlete but most importantly, a noble man who made a difference by simply being himself.

Best Friends + Baseball + Fireworks + Summer = The Sandlot (4th of July Scene)

I may look like a grown up teacher lady on the outside (well, sometimes), but inside I’ll always be an 11 year old spending every day of summer vacation watching this movie and playing baseball with my cousins in the backyard.

I like that they put one player on each team up for every position. It’s a level of equality that we Padres fans have never had before. I tried to be unbiased, but it didn’t work out too well since almost every one of my choices has been or is a San Diego Padre. And if not, they’re on my fantasy baseball team-the soul crushing SD Sandlot.
Can’t hide that SD pride!

I will always think of Adrian Gonzalez as a Padre. But I was ecstatic that we somehow took that series this week!
I’m happy that he’s doing well since:
1) He’s a true San Diegan who gave the Padres many years and a huge hometown discount though he could have been elsewhere.
2) He’s on my fantasy baseball team and is helping me kick serious ass.
3) If I was forced to choose a second favorite team, it would probably be the Red Sox. What’s cooler or more random than a pair of red socks as your logo/mascot/team name?

My fantasy record so far is 57-39-4. The 2nd place team is 10.5 games behind me.
Beginner’s luck or Fantasy Baseball Rookie of the Year? Either way, I’ll take it.

In an effort to keep myself distracted/entertained as I await the fate of football, I caved and joined my cousin’s fantasy baseball league. I have no idea what I’m doing, but I actually like and follow baseball so this could be a lot of fun. Or at the very least a good excuse to reference the Sandlot as much as possible.
